Hotel clerk hides in office during attempted robbery

A clerk at a Middletown hotel ran into an office and locked the door when an armed man jumped over the front desk counter last week, according to Middletown police.

The clerk at the Days Inn, 3458 Commerce Drive, told police a man wearing a mask over part of his face walked toward the front counter and displayed a handgun. That’s when the clerk went into the office, he told police.
