A skillful combination of traditional and Craftsman features creates architectural interest in the exterior styling of the new home at 9384 Chaumont Ave.

Columns with wide bases in stone are topped with upper half-columns under the covered front porch. Direct lines of the gabled rooftop are softened with arched lines above the porch and front windows.

Built in 2011 in the Soraya Farms subdivision, this Sabrina model home showcases many upgrades in the interior floor plan by Design Homes & Development Co. Inc.

“It is such a unique floor plan,” said Sandy Allen, sales associate for Design Homes.

“People love this entry, because it’s open, but defined,” she said.

Arched double doors with rounded muntins and beveled-glass inserts open into the entry, which displays cherry-stained walnut flooring. Five-panel doors and wide wood trim are seen throughout the home. Angled French doors open to the study.

Eleven-foot ceilings add spaciousness to the great room, which receives natural light from a Palladian-style window.

A raised gas fireplace is recessed into an angled wall covered by marble tile interspersed with miniature glass tiles in a contemporary design

“This open contemporary gathering area is the heart of the home,” said Allen. “There is a clean, sleek look in these kitchen cabinets,” she said. Long metal pulls add contrast to the rich espresso stain on 42-inch maple cabinets. Glass tiles create backsplashes that complement white quartz counters surrounding the workspace. A wide center island doubles as a breakfast bar.

Appliances include a five-burner glass cooktop and upgraded stainless-steel ovens and dishwasher.

From the dining area, sliding-glass doors open to the covered patio, which has a stained wood ceiling and a corner brick column.

A deep tray ceiling enhances the main bedroom suite. Unusual rectangular tile covers the floor in the bath, which has a deep oval tub flanked by two raised vanities. Polished concrete with a grain that resembles marble covers vanity counters and surrounds areas around the tub and the separate walk-in shower. The walk-in closet has upgraded organizers.

Two more bedrooms flank the hall bath on the opposite side of the home. In the hallway leading to the three-car garage is an alcove with a custom bench seat.

An extra-wide staircase descends to the lower level, which offers a recreation/family room, a media room and a kitchenette with granite counters, bar seating, maple cabinets, dishwasher and beverage cooler. Near the full bath is an extra bedroom with a boxed egress window.

The base price for the standard Sabrina model home is $323,900, which excludes the lot. Prices for homes in the Soraya Farms community begin at $190,000. Allen said, “We’ll be launching Phase 3 this fall. A few lots for single family and patio homes are still available in Phase 2.

“We have a design center here in the office, so no travel is involved to make-style choices,” she said.

Amenities in the Soraya Farms community include a clubhouse with a gathering room, kitchen and fitness center, swimming pool with a tanning deck, tennis and volleyball courts, and children’s playground. Ponds are stocked for recreational fishing.
