Here are 4 ways to save big on food for your pet

1. Quantity. You’ll generally pay the least by buying the most. The largest bag usually gives you the lowest unit price. Discount stores, wholesale clubs and large pet stores carry the largest bags and you can use coupons at most of those stores.

2. Manufacturers’ coupons. Visit the manufacturer’s website and sign up for their e-mail newsletters. Some pet food manufacturers issue big value coupons in the Sunday newspaper circulars including coupons for free items to encourage pet owners to try new brands.

3. Store coupons. Pet stores generally accept each other’s coupons, but it is up to you to ask.

4. Put your discounts to work. Clip those coupons for a free can of dog or cat food and redeem it to make a donation to a local shelter at no cost. Animal shelter volunteers would love to accept your donation and aid their furry clients.
