Juwan Staten, Donald Trump and more

Re “Staten transferring from UD,” March 22: University of Dayton basketball will be much better without Juwan Staten’s spoiled behind and his overbearing father.

Juwan Staten and Brandon Spearman are both good kids who are unhappy playing on a badly coached team. If you watch Brian Gregory during the game or listen to his comments after, you would know why players are unhappy with his arrogant attitude. If you are not happy, you can’t play well.

Good luck, Juwan Staten. Maybe you can use the year off to develop a shot other than driving to the hoop.

Bill Staten just needs to stop talking. Every time he talks, he makes himself and his son look worse. It didn’t work out, leave and go be successful somewhere else. I am not a Brian Gregory fan, but I feel sorry for him that he had to put up with this guy for a year.

Brian Gregory is one of the most overrated coaches in the country; he has never even won the A10. Staten made a bad choice in going to UD. He is way too good for that program.

It is best for both parties. Staten was a horrible fit from the start, and he is the type of player who should be playing at a BCS school. We will be better off without him.

Brandon Spearman and Juwan Staten leaving the University of Dayton basketball team is like rats leaving a sinking ship.

NPR and PBS, teachers, or civil servants did not cause our current budget deficit. Blame the economic collapse on greedy Wall Street bankers, huge tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy, and expensive wars during the last Republican administration.

“Those who choose to forget history are doomed to repeat it.” The teachers unions should think about what happened to the auto industry in Michigan. Perhaps, sadly, they do not care.

Donald Trump said he thinks foreign countries with U.S. military bases should pay us for being protected. I like that idea. It should have been done decades ago.

Donald Trump possibly running for the White House in 2012 is almost as ridiculous as Sarah Palin running.

Re “Dentist kept job after NAACP pressure, VA supervisor says,” March 19: The VA should not have given in to pressure from the NAACP and it should have fired that so-called dentist years ago. Look how many lives were affected by his carelessness and unsanitary practices.

Maybe if auto and health insurance companies didn’t advertise their companies so much, we’d have decent premiums to pay.
