Soups event will help Peace Museum

By Pamela Dillon

Contributing Writer

The Dayton Peace Museum will serve up Cool Soups for a Hot Cause on Friday at Christ Episcopal Church, 20 W. First St.

How about some vichyssoise, green gazpacho or a little borscht? These soups come from France, Spain and the Ukraine, respectively.

“We were supporters of the Peace Museum from its inception,” said Ron Katsuyama of Kettering. “The group causes people to think about our foreign policy … .”

His wife, cellist Jane Katsuyama with the Dayton Philharmonic, will be playing “Meditations of Tai” at the event. Besides the soups mentioned above, there will be red gazpacho, peach, carrot ginger, and apple soup from the Dayton Art Institute.

Guest at this event from past years have raved about the fresh tomato and mozzarella salad. A meal includes breads from Ashley’s Bakery and an assortment of desserts.

“We usually make at least $2,000 for the museum with this event,” said museum co-founder Christine Dull. “I think this is our fifth year for the luncheon. It has become very popular, and we sometimes have to turn people away.”

The cost is tax deductible. The proceeds will be used for operating expenses and exhibits. There is free parking available next to the church, or nearby at the museum on West Monument Avenue and Wilkinson Street. Seating is limited to 80 adults.

If paying by check, send to Dayton International Peace Museum, 208 W. Monument, Dayton, OH 45402. To pay by credit, search http://www1.networkforgood.org/#, and type in “Dayton International Peace Museum” under “Donate Now.”
