Board OKs contract with schools chief

Beavercreek City Schools approves 3-year contract for Superintendent Bill McGlothlin.

The Beavercreek Board of Education approved a three-year contract for Superintendent Bill McGlothlin from August 2013 through August 2016.

McGlothlin has served as interim superintendent since Aug. 1, following the resignation of Nick Verhoff, and will complete a one-year contract this summer. McGlothlin had worked in the district since 2010, as an associate superintendent and director of operations, and was superintendent of Indian Lake Schools for 11 years.

“I’m grateful to the board for this opportunity,” McGlothlin said. “This is an exceptional district. We have to continue to be vigilant and fiscally responsible, and vigilant in improving the academic abilities for all of our learners.”

McGlothlin will continue to make $131,900 per year as superintendent.

Al Nels, president of the Beavercreek Board of Education, called McGlothlin a highly qualified leader who is committed to the district’s success.

“His background in the areas of educational finance, law and personnel are invaluable, and with 34 years in public education, he will provide the continuity and leadership our district needs,” Nels said.

Beavercreek City Schools, the largest Greene County public school district with more than 7,500 students, has been rated “Excellent” or “Excellent with Distinction” by the Ohio Department of Education since the 2000-01 school year.

McGlothlin earned his doctorate with a concentration in educational finance from the National Ed.D. Program for Educational Leaders at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He also holds an educational specialist degree with a major in educational leadership from Wright State University, a master’s in education from the University of Dayton and an undergraduate degree in business administration and marketing from Ohio Northern University with a secondary education certification.
