Middletown’s outgoing superintendent lands principal job

Middletown’s soon-to-be former superintendent has found a new job.

The Wayne Local Schools Board of Education is expected Monday to approve a three-year contract with Sam Ison to become a principal at Waynesville High School, according to a meeting agenda from the district.

Ison, also a former principal at Lebanon High School, announced in March his retirement from the Butler County school district.

His hiring is among a long list of hirings, resignations and retirements the board is expected to consider Monday when it meets at 6 p.m. in the Spartan Room of Waynesville High School, 735 Dayton Road.

He told the Journal-News today that “this was a good opportunity and I love being a principal.”

“I love being with kids and I like the area and I like the district. This is a good fit,” Ison said.

His last day as leader of Middletown Schools is July 31 and his first day at Waynesville High School is Aug. 1.

The Wayne Local school board is also scheduled Monday to hear a presentation from state officials about the process leading to the state co-funding a new facility in the school district.
