Dayton Daily articles show up in leaked Wikileaks emails from Podesta

Dayton Daily News articles appear at least seven times in the latest Wikileaks release of hacked emails from Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman John Podesta.

Stories by the reporters are printed in full or referenced in the emails. None of the emails appear to be sent directly to Podesta and it is unclear why they would be in his email.

Podesta has not verified the authenticity of the thousands of illegally obtained documents, which can be seen at the Wikileaks website.

The New York Times reported that on Tuesday Podesta accused Russian intelligence officials of being behind the hack, saying they are trying to help elect Republican nominee Donald Trump. Trump campaign has responded that they have no connection to the Russians.

President Barack Obama’s administration says Russians hacked Democratic National Committee emails earlier this year.

The leaked Podesta emails that mention the Dayton Daily News are collections of news clippings, giving updates on stories about the 2008 Obama campaign or Clinton’s current campaign. The emails are written by or sent to people in the campaign of Democratic presidential nominee Clinton, the Democratic super PAC American Bridge, Progressive Media, which is a pro-Obama communications group affiliated with Podesta, and a liberal group called Progressive Accountability.
