West Carrollton bank robbery suspect formally charged

A formal charge of felony robbery was approved against Randy Taylor, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect in the Friday afternoon Chase Bank robbery is behind bars.

Randy L. Taylor, 58, is accused of holding up the bank at 9 E. Central Ave. in West Carrollton.

Taylor’s family convinced him to turn himself in, and they brought him to the Miamisburg police station, Miamisburg police Sgt. Josiah Keefer said.

Miamisburg police arrested Taylor on West Carrollton charges, Keefer said, and West Carrollton police officers took Taylor to jail. He was booked around 2:30 p.m. into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of robbery, but has not been officially charged, online jail records show.

Miamisburg police today arrested a suspect in the Friday afternoon robbery at Chase Bank, 9 E. Central Ave. in West Carrollton.

We are working to learn more details about the suspect’s identity, and how he was captured.

Police in West Carrollton were called to bank robbery this afternoon at Chase Bank.

Officers responded to an alarm at 1:07 p.m. from the bank at 9 E. Central Ave. in West Carrollton, about four blocks west from the city’s police department.

The suspect fled the bank with an undetermined amount of cash, according to police.

The bank robber is described as a white man in  his 60s who is between 6 feet 1 and 6 feet 2 and 200 pounds. He was wearing a gray T-shirt, jeans and hat. Police did not indicate whether the bank robber was armed.

That Chase Bank has been the site of robberies in recent years.

In April 2015, a woman who hinted she had a weapon held up a Chase branch on Central Avenue. Police said she walked into the bank around 2:10 p.m. while other customers were inside.

The suspect did not show a weapon, but hinted she had one before she demanded cash from the teller, police said.

In March 2014, a 26-year-old man was jailed, accused of robbing the Chase bank in West Carrollton.

Police at the times said a man reportedly showed a gun during the robbery and fled with an undetermined amount of money, according to West Carrollton police.

Police in West Carrollton have responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Chase Bank location Friday afternoon.

Officers responded after receiving an alarm from the bank at 9 East Central Avenue in West Carrollton at 1:07p.m. The bank is located around four blocks west of the city’s police department.
