Blood drive July 27

The sixth annual blood drive in memory of Officer Bill Davenport will be held from 3-7 p.m. July 27 at 333 W. National Road. Proceeds go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Officer promoted

Officer Germina Steele has been proposed from part time to full time patrol officer for the city police department. She has been with the department since 2015 and is one of the community outreach officers.

4-H Alumni to gather

Miami County 4-H alumni and those who attended 4-H camp are invited to attend a gathering Aug. 12 during the Miami County Fair. The group will meet at the Duke Lundgard Building at the fairground’s north end from 6-9 p.m. Bring any photos to share. Those without a season fair pass will need to pay fair admission at the gate.

TIPP CITY

Scoreboard regs OK’d

Tipp City council voted July 17 to support an ordinance amendment to add regulations allowing a proposed new scoreboard at the Tipp City Park. Existing city ordinances do not include specific provisions for scoreboards. The ordinance proposed is for a City Park scoreboard with a maximum high of 35 feet and maximum area of 625 square feet.

Commissioners OK budget

The Miami County commissioners on July 13 approved the county’s 2018 tax budget, saying that while sales and property tax income remain stable, revenue from other sources is on the decline.

The tax budget is the first of two steps in the county budgeting process. The numbers approved by commissioners show a 1 percent increase over the 2017 tax budget approved in July 2017.

Program looks at herbs

The Miami County Master Gardener Volunteers will present “All About Herbs and Preserving and Saving Seeds” at the Coffee with the Master Gardeners series Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. at the OSU Extension Office in the Courthouse in Troy. Art Show continues

The 11th annual Art Show will take place at Hoffman United Methodist Church activity center, 201 S. Main St., West Milton, on Aug. 4-6. The show is non-juried. There is no admission fee. Aug. 4 hours will be 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Aug. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Aug. 6, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
