Mini grants available

The Greene Community Health Foundation is offering five to 10 community mini grants, up to $1,000 each as funds allow, to help support Greene County, Ohio programs that focus on the following: youth involvement; promotion of healthy lifestyles; addressing a current public health issue; provision of crucial information to allow individuals to practice disease prevention; showcasing resources for, and provision of, grass-roots health care and information; gaining additional support for the on-going efforts to improve health year-round; and increasing the opportunity to collaborate with other Greene County resources.

Environmental health director named

Greene County Public Health officials recently named Jeff Webb as the new Environmental Health Director.

Webb, a resident of Fairborn, comes from Champaign County Health District where he served for 10 years, two years of which he served as the health commissioner after the former commissioner, Brad King, resigned. He has worked in the public health field for over 30 years and brings his wealth of environmental health expertise and familiarity with Greene County in the hopes of continuing to build on and strengthen relationships in the community.

BEAVERCREEK

Beavercreek Strummers seek members

The Beavercreek Strummers practice at the Beavercreek Senior Center every Thursday at 9:30 a.m. The band plays shows through-out the community and it looking for new members.

Both senior center members and non-members are welcome to bring their instrument to practice. Non-members will pay a daily fee.

BELLBROOK

2nd Annual Chili Cook-off Jan. 29

The Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District will be holding its 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off on Jan. 29 from 3-5 p.m. at the park district headquarters, 2751 Washington Mill Road.

Come out and enjoy a cup of chili or register to enter your chili for a chance to win the Cheesy Chili Trophy.

Chili will be sold at $1 per tasting cup and all proceeds will benefit the Family Resource Center in Bellbrook. Cook-off volunteers will get up to five free tastes. All chili cook-off entrants must register by Jan. 25.
