Gourd Bike Tour in Piqua

Mainstreet Piqua will host the fifth Groovy Gourd Bike Tour on Sept. 23. It will start and end behind the Municipal Government Complex. It features two courses. One covers 25 miles while the other is 50 miles.

Planning ahead urged

Troy City Schools’ Superintendent Eric Herman Sept. 11 issued a message to parents to plan ahead for inclement weather. Herman told the board of education he again was urging parents to be thinking about what they would do if there is a delay in the opening of school or a cancellation due to weather.

Dome project underway

A Piqua company is painting the four corner domes on the 1880s Miami County Courthouse in downtown Troy. Meyer Restoration of Piqua was hired by the county to handle the work for up to $44,900. The company will prepare, prime and paint the domes. The final paint will match the color of the center dome painted in 2015. Book sale coming

The Friends of the Tipp City Public Library will host a book sale Sept. 30 from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the library, 11 E. Main St., Tipp City. A sneak preview will be offered at members’ night, available to Friends only Sept. 29 from 1-6 p.m. New memberships can be obtained or memberships renewed this day. Sale proceeds benefit the library.

Passport fair set

The Tipp City Post Office will hold a Passport Fair on Sept. 26. U.S. citizens planning international travel can apply for their passports from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Post Office, 520 N. Hyatt St. No appointment is necessary. Anyone with questions is asked to visit travel.state.gov and click on the passports link.
