BEAVERCREEK

Police department open house May 6

On May 6 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. the Beavercreek Police Department, 1388 Research Park Dr., will hold an open house. There will be demonstrations, vehicle displays, care flight, child ID kits, food and family fun. There will also be a special appearance by McGruff the crime dog.

Fishing derby May 20

On May 20 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. there will be a fishing derby in Phillips Park, 2132 Dayton Xenia Road. Registration will start at 8 a.m. Families will enjoy free entertainment and prizes will be awarded at 11 a.m. Participants should bring their own fishing pole.

XENIA

Fishing derby June 3

On June 3 the Xenia Board for Recreation, Arts, and Cultural Activities will hold its Annual Youth Fishing Derby at Shawnee Park. Children 4-15 are invited to attend this free event. Children need to bring their own fishing poles, but bait, and door prizes will be provided.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and fishing begins at 9. Fishing concludes at 11:30 and the presentation of trophies (1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and biggest fish in each age group) begins at noon.

Spring hike May 14

On May 14, from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Indian Mound Reserve, Indian Mound Reserve Williamson Mound lot, 2750 US Rt. 42 E. Cedarville, get out and enjoy the warm spring weather, with a hike along Massie Creek gorge.

Native Plant Sale April 29

On April 29, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Greene County Parks and Trails will be hosting a native plants sale at James Ranch Park, 177 Fairgrounds Road.

Native plants in your home landscape will help support the struggling pollinator population. Gardeners can easily incorporate native plants into their traditional or existing landscape.

Prescription drug drop-off April 29

On April 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Greene County residents can turn in unused or expired medications for safe disposal at the following locations: Greene County Sheriff’s Office, 120 E. Main St., Xenia; Sugarcreek Township Public Safety Building, 4398 Clyo Road; Beavercreek Police Department, 1388 Research Park Dr.; and Fairborn Police Department, 70 W. Hebble Ave. Medications in pill and capsule form will be accepted. Pills should be removed from packaging material. Liquids and needles will not be accepted. For more information, call 937-848-3479.
