Volunteers needed for regional trail survey
On Sept. 13 and 16 Greene County Parks and Trails is seeking volunteers to help conduct a regional trail survey. Survey stations will be based at Oldtown Reserve, Glady Run Reserve and the Ohio-to-Erie Trail by the Cedarville Library. Meet and talk to cyclists vising the trails. Selfie scavenger hunt Sept. 2
On Sept. 2 from 7 a.m.-8 p.m., Greene County Parks and Trails (GCP&T) will be hosting a Selfie Scavenger Hunt at Spring Lakes Park, 2191 Ferry Road, Bellbrook.
Each month GCP&T will pick a different park to be part of the hunt and provide a sheet of places and things found throughout the park on their Facebook page. Participants must take a selfie at each place or with each thing. Download the selfies and turn in the sheet showing how many you have found. Prizes will be given for completing the scavenger hunt and can be picked up at the park office, 575 Ledbetter Rd, Xenia between the 5th and 25th of each month.
City hiring firefighter/paramedics
Xenia is accepting applicants for lateral entry firefighter/paramedic positions.
Qualified applicants must be a citizen of the United States; at least 18 years old at time of appointment; have a high school diploma or equivalent; be certified with the State of Ohio as a Level II Firefighter and as a State of Ohio Certified Paramedic; able to obtain Fire Safety Inspector certification within six months of appointment; hold a valid Ohio driver’s license and be insurable under the city’s insurance; of good character with a good credit rating and no police record of arrests for a felony or a misdemeanor involving violence or moral turpitude.

Popcorn Festival Sept. 9-10
The Beavercreek Popcorn Festival is open Sept. 9 from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sept. 10 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Dayton-Xenia Road, Between North Fairfield and Meadow Bridge.
The festival has over 200 booths with festival foods, treats, special services, creative crafts, and specialties made with popcorn.
