Parks and Rec Board seeks volunteers

The City of Trotwood has two openings on the Parks and Recreation Board, a five-member panel that meets every third Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. as needed.

The volunteer applicant must be a resident of Trotwood. If you have any questions or to apply, please contact the Clerk of Council at 937-854-7212 or dyoung@trotwood.org.

Annual Business Breakfast Jan. 19

The City of Brookville will be holding its Annual Business Breakfast on Jan. 19 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Brookhaven, 1 Country Lane. This is a great time for businesses both large and small to come together with city administration and staff. For more information call 937-833-2135.

DAYTON

Christmas Eve skate Dec. 24

On Dec. 24 there will be a Christmas Eve Skate from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Riverscape MetroPark, 111 E. Monument Ave.

Start a holiday tradition by skating with friends and family at MetroParks Ice Rink. Enjoy splendid scenery, outdoor fireplaces and hot chocolate from the food concession.

This event is $7 and for all ages. No registration is required.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Dog licenses on sale

Montgomery County dog licenses for 2018 are on sale through Jan. 31.

Owners whose dogs have been spayed or neutered will pay a $20 license fee. Owners whose dogs have not been altered will pay $24 per dog license.

Licenses are available online at www.mcohio.org/dogs, at Montgomery County Auditor Karl Keith’s Office, the Animal Resource Center and numerous outposts.

Adult nature walk Dec. 26

There will be an adult nature walk for ages 18 and up Dec. 26 from 9-11 a.m. at Eastwood MetroPark, 1385 Harshman Road, Dayton.

Come out and explore nature with MetroPark Volunteers and other curious adults on this weekly, relaxed adventure. They will explore a variety of habitats while learning and sharing about the natural world. This event is free and weather dependent. Registration is requested but walk-ins are welcome. Leave No Trace presentation Jan. 2

On Jan. 2 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Cox Arboretum MetroPark 6733 Springboro Pike, Miamisburg, is offering a presentation by Leave No Trace master educator Angie Sheldon on how The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics’ data-driven approach is teaching people how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly, through educational programs, high-quality training, and sound best practices. This event is free and open to ages 18 and up.
