Throwback movie night set for Nov. 17

Centerville Library, 111 W. Spring Valley Road, is hosting a throwback family movie night from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 17.

This month’s movie is The Great Mouse Detective. Popcorn and snacks will be provided. This movie is rated G.

Participants are welcome to bring bean bag chairs or pillows. This is open to all age groups, and children younger than 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

Knitting group to meet at library

The WCPL knitting group will meet from 2-3 p.m. Nov. 18 at Centerville Library, 111 W. Spring Valley Road.

This informal group helps knitters learn new skills, work on projects, enjoy socialization and share patterns. All skill levels are welcome and beginners can learn basic skills.

Participants are encouraged to bring supplies if possible.

KETTERING

Habitat Rangers program to start Nov. 22

Habitat Rangers is a program for children 6-10 that encourages participants to explore through games, experiments, hikes, crafts, animal encounters and more.

The next five-week session is 4:30 to 5 p.m. Nov. 22 through Dec. 20 at the Habitat Environment Center, 3036 Bellflower St.

The cost is $35 for residents and $40 for nonresidents.

Kids class explores fantastic beasts

Children 8-13 can learn about fantastic beasts from 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Habitat Environment Center, 3036 Bellflower St.

Participants can learn about slithering, crawling, gnawing beats that live in the forest. Dinner will be served during the class.

The cost is $7 for residents and $8 for nonresidents.

Sounds of the Season on Dec. 5

Participants can partake in a holiday meal while enjoying a concert by the Kettering Civic Band at 6 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Lathrem Senior Center, 2900 Glengarry Drive.

Registration is due by Nov. 27. The cost is $18 for residents and $20 for nonresidents.

OAKWOOD

Speaker series continues at library

The Oakwood Historical Society and Wright Memorial Public Library will present historian Michael Williams as part of the Far Hills Speaker Series.

The event will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 19 at the library, 1776 Far Hills Ave.

Williams will relive the 1966-1967 Dayton Flyers basketball season, and share information from interviews with former coach Don Donoher.
