4-H kick off held Feb. 24

Evening of Arts offered

Edison Community College’s Diversity Committee will celebrate Black History Month with an evening of arts Feb. 27 from 6-8 p.m. in the Robinson Theater. Events will include a performance by the Dayton-based jazz ensemble Speaking of Peace along with food and beverages. A dance will feature GOREE Drum and Dance from Columbus. The evening is free. Main Street certified

Troy Main Street has received 2017 certification as a National Main Street community. The downtown revitalization program received certification following an evaluation by the Heritage Ohio organization. For more information, visit www.HeritageOhio.org.

Center report made

The Miami County Communication Center staff averaged answering all calls — emergency and administrative — in five seconds or less in 2017, Jeff Busch, center director, reported. The center handles all fire, police and EMS calls countywide. The industry standard is 10 seconds or less for 911 calls and 15 seconds or less for administrative line calls.

TIPP CITY

Raised bed gardening tips

A class on raised bed gardening will be offered March 12 from 7-8 p.m. at the Tipp City Public Library. The class is free, but preregistration is required. A registration form is available online at tmcomservices.org or at the Tipp Monroe Community Services office on Main Street.

WEST MILTON

Ukulele club to meet

A ukulele club for teens will meet Feb. 23 from 4-5 p.m. at the Milton-Union Public Library. Participants are encouraged to bring their own instrument or share one at the library.
