Greenville motorcyclist dies after striking pickup truck in Darke County

A 24-year-old Greenville motorcyclist was killed Sunday after striking another vehicle that was stopped in traffic.

One person is dead as a result of a crash around 5 p.m. on U.S. 127 and U.S. 36 West, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Nicholas Woodruff, 24, of was operating a 2000 Kawasaki Ninja south on U.S. 127 when he hit the driver side of a 1995 GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by Kenneth Reynolds Jr., 66, of Tusla, Oklahoma, who was stopped at the intersection of U.S. 36 West and U.S. 127, pulled out to travel north, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Woodruff was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.

Reynolds was treated at the scene and taken to Wayne HealthCare for further evaluation.

Darke County deputies along with Tri-Village Rescue, New Madison Fire, Darke County Accident Reconstruction Team and Darke County Coroner’s Office responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.
