CEDARVILLE — Cedarville University is working on plans to offer a civil engineering bachelor’s degree.

If state and regional accreditation organizations approve, the university could launch the civil engineering program as early as fall next year.

In January, the university board of trustees agreed to seek approval from the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Higher Learning Commission on a proposal for the program.

Cedarville offers degrees in mechanical, electrical and computer engineering all accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology.

More than 450 students are studying in the School of Engineering and Computer Science, making it the second largest academic unit on campus.
