UPDATE @ 4 p.m.

U.S. 35 East remains closed for two crashes this afternoon that sent two people to local hospitals.

First, a car spun out and struck a barrier wall. An Ohio Department of Transportation pickup truck with traffic cones in the truck bed stopped for the crash.

A second car stopped behind the ODOT vehicle, which was blocking the lane, and then a third car hit that car, which caused a chain-reaction crash involving the two cars and ODOT truck, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Two people in the cars were taken to local hospitals with injuries that were not life-threatening, despite initial reports there were no injuries. One went to Soin Medical Center and a second person went to Kettering Medical Center, troopers said.

It is not clear when the highway will reopen.
