Free pet adoptions today at Animal Resource Center until 4 p.m.

The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center’s annual “Send Them Home Saturday” event is going on until 4 p.m. today.

The lines for the free adoption started forming outside before the event started at 10 a.m., according to Bob Sexton, Animal Care Control Officer Supervisor.

On average, over 100 dogs and 20 to 30 cats are homed at the ARC.

FIRST REPORT:

Any dog or cat can be adopted at no charge today during the Montgomery County Animal Resource Center’s annual “Send Them Home Saturday” event.

Adoption fees will be waived, and community sponsors are covering dog license fees during the special at the ARC, 6790 Webster St., in Dayton. Find a “furrever” friend and give a deserving animal a loving home in time for the holidays.

The ARC will issue coupons for the adoptions, which must be initiated Nov. 24 and completed by Dec. 8 to qualify for the special. There is a limit of one coupon per household.

Adoptions include spay/neuter, first vaccines, license/cat registration, obedience classes for dogs, adoption kit and optional testing.

Event sponsors include Lucky’s Taproom and Eatery; MAKSolve; Dyer, Garofolo, Mann & Schultz; PI-Tech; HP Energy; Starco Inc.; Merck Animal Health; and T.J.’s Goodboy Gourmet Dog Treats.
