The “Balling for Breast Cancer” event was held at Stepping Stones Day Care and had the first responders act as rivals for a day in order to raise money for Pink Ribbon Girls, a local organization dedicated to breast cancer.

Pink Ribbon Girls is an organization dedicated to helping those who are currently battling breast cancer and other women’s reproductive cancers. They offer direct services of healthy meals, housecleaning, rides to treatment, and peer support throughout Ohio at no charge to the client.

In 2016, Pink Ribbon Girls were able to provide 61,000 meals, 900 house cleanings and 2,100 rides to treatment to those battling breast cancer. These programs and services are only possible through funds donated by individuals, corporate sponsors, and places such as Stepping Stones Daycare,

In October, Stepping Stones Daycare raised $2,752 for Pink Ribbon Girls, which provided 344 meals to women fighting breast cancer.  The Director of Community Engagement for Pink Ribbon Girls, Gretchen Eckstein, believes  the charity basketball game was a success, in more ways than one.

“This is a great example of a feel good moment and the community coming together for a purpose”, said Eckstein.

The event entry fee was by donation only, with every dollar going toward women fighting breast cancer.
