Death investigation continues in Piqua

The death of a 57-year-old Piqua man Tuesday night is not considered suspicious, according to Piqua Deputy Chief Marty Groves.

Groves said police responded to the man’s home in the 1000 block of Camp Street and found him dead on the back porch.

A preliminary investigation reveals the man’s death is being considered either accidental or natural, Groves said.

The man lived alone at the address, according to Groves.

INITIAL REPORT (Oct. 18)

Piqua police officers have begun a death investigation after a man was found dead in his yard Tuesday night.

Officers were dispatched around 6:55 p.m. on an assist call to the 1000 block of Camp Street, according to Piqua Lieutenant William Weaver.

Police are currently gathering and processing evidence after a neighbor found the man, according to Weaver.

Weaver said the Miami County coroner’s office has been called, but the man’s family has yet to be notified.

The man, said to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Weaver.
