Driver sent to hospital after hitting deer on I-75

One person has been taken to the hospital after striking a deer on southbound I-75.

Crews were dispatched to mile marker 40, just after the Austin Landing exit, around 6:51 p.m. Tuesday.

Traffic was reduced to one lane on southbound I-75 for about a half hour as crews cleaned up the scene, according to dispatchers.

Dispatchers said the victim was taken to Atrium Medical Center in Middletown in an unknown condition.

Two lanes of the highway have since been reopened, according to dispatchers.
