Hamilton Flea’s new season kicks off Saturday at new location

Hamilton’s “urban, modern-day flea market” known as Hamilton Flea kicks off its 2017 schedule on Saturday at a new location and with other changes.

This year’s events will happen on the “Second Saturday” of each month between May and September, starting May 13, and continuing June 10, July 8, Aug. 12 and Sept. 9.

FIRST REPORT: Changes coming for 2017 installment of Hamilton Flea

There will be three major changes to this year's Hamilton Flea:

1. New location: Rather than being held at German Village's Third Street Plaza, which the event quickly outgrew, Hamilton Flea will happen nearby at the city's new Marcum Park, said Lauren Smallwood, who co-founded the event with her husband, Ty Smallwood.

2. New hours: The hours will be tweaked slightly. The event will operate for the same number of hours, but in response to customer requests, it will start an hour earlier, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3. Nonprofits highlighted: A different non-profit local organization will be highlighted at each event, with volunteers offering information about what they do and asking for donations.
