Kettering’s proposed day care changes to be discussed Monday

Kettering Schools superintendent Scott Inskeep is scheduled to meet with parents and child care workers Monday, to discuss concerns related to the replacement of a longtime before-and-after school program.

The district offers a before-and-after school program for parents with children in elementary school. Parents pay $5 per hour per child for the services, which allow the child to stay at the school with a child care provider, until a guardian picks up the child.

In March, Kettering Schools announced they were in discussions with the YMCA to replace the program, eliminating 20 jobs in the district as a result.

The meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, at the Board of Education building, 3750 Far Hills Ave.

The monthly Board of Education Meeting will be held the following night, Tuesday, April 4, at 6 p.m. in the Fairmont High School Recital Hall, 3301 Shroyer Road.
