Local nursery school takes trip to zoo, months after money stolen

Months after a trip to the Columbus Zoo was brought to a halt after a burglary at Playtime Nursery School, children finally took the special trip after the community rallied to raise the money for the event.

In April, Dayton police responded to the nursery school, 821 Whitmore Ave., after the owner of the school reported a five-gallon jug with money being collected for the summer trip to the zoo was stolen.

The suspect in the case broke into the nursery school by breaking a window.

Following the burglary, community members from Dayton, Kettering, Vandalia and other area cities pitched in and raised $1000 for the school to use for the trip.

Today, the students at the school held signs thanking the community before they boarded vehicles to head to the Columbus Zoo.
