Local pizzeria providing concessions at Cassel Hills Pool

Contract extension comes after two successful seasons

The Vandalia City Council approved a two-year contract with Christy’s Pizzeria to provide concessions at Cassel Hills Pool.

The contract, approved at council’s May 15 meeting, also has options for three additional one-year extensions.

Christy’s has been providing concessions at the swimming pool since 2015 when the city initiated a Request for Proposal process to out-source concessions.

“Due to the success of the 2015-16 agreement, we are recommending a two-year agreement with the option for three, one-year extensions that could take the agreement through the 2021 pool season,” said Vandalia Parks and Recreation Director Steve Clark in his memorandum recommending the contract.

Under the terms of the contract, Christy’s will pay the city $1,500 for the use of the concession stand and equipment. They also agree to sponsor one youth sports team each year in baseball or softball, soccer, and basketball at a cost of $600.

Christy’s will be responsible for any failed equipment due to negligence, but the city is responsible for pre-season preparation, normal wear and tear maintenance, and post-season preparation of equipment. The city will also pay the water, sewer, and electrical costs associated with the operation of the concession stand.
