Springboro pedestrian strike investigated as felonious assault

Springboro police Detective Nathan Anderkin said his office is still investigating this pedestrian strike, but did add that it is being investigated as as felonious assault that was not an accident.

Police have identified a male person of interest they were in the process of bringing in for questioning. Anderkin said it was not known yet if the person of interest is a juvenile or adult.

Police will then consult with Warren County Prosecutor’s Office if charges are warranted.

The 18-year-old male victim was still in the hospital Wednesday night, but with non-life threatening injuries.

Anderkin said police are “looking at the angle” of alcohol being involved, but is not yet a confirmed factor in the incident.

EARLIER REPORT

An 18-year-old male has been taken to Atrium Medical Center after he was struck by a vehicle in the 200 block of Heatherwoode Court in Springboro.

A Springboro police sergeant tells us the male’s injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Detectives are continuing to look into the circumstances of the incident, the sergeant said.

Police and a medic unit were dispatched just before 9:30 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian strike.
