Miami Twp. trustees reject White Allen dealership plan

Miami Twp. trustees voted 3-0 to reject a revised plan for White Allen to put a second automobile dealership on Springboro Pike near the Dayton Mall.

Tuesday night's decision follows a recommendation to reject the proposal for the company to build a 20,200 square foot Volkswagen business on 3.3 acres just north of its White Allen European Auto Group on Springboro Pike.

Township zoning officials opposed the plan after it failed to meet lighting and landscaping standards, and included significant changes to a proposal given preliminary approval by trustees this spring.

Trustees had earlier approved a lot split to construct a 9,000-square-foot building for the sale of preowned cars. Neighboring residents also criticized the revised plan, say they were given late notice about while also objecting to lighting and landscaping issues.

White-Allen officials said changes in recent months by manufacturers forced them to alter the plan from this spring.

The proposal — if approved — would add to an automobile sales corridor near the Dayton Mall that includes four Matt Castrucci lots on Mall Park Drive, Walker Toyota on Ohio 741 just south of the mall and Interstate Ford on Ohio 725 west of I-75.

In response to Tuesday night’s vote, officials with White Allen said they have submitted a new proposal they feel confident will eventually win passage.
