Miami Valley businesses, organizations honor regional veterans

Many Miami Valley business and organizations are honoring regional veterans today with retail discounts and remembrance memorials.

Vietnam Veterans will be honored in Dayton with an 11 a.m. ceremony at Dayton’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial on Patterson Boulevard. Area veterans and UD staff will salute the 100th anniversary of the University of Dayton Army ROTC Corps.

At the National Museum of the United States Air Force, visitors will have the opportunity to interact with more than 25 veterans stationed at aircraft once used in service. From 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. visitors can hear first-hand accounts from retired pilots, engineers and navigators.

In Springboro, the city will unveil the Springboro Veterans Memorial at 11 a.m. with many local police and fire departments on hand for the dedication.

At least two area businesses, Bob Evans and Cabela’s, will offer discounts and free items to veterans. Former and current servicemen and women can enjoy free menu items at Bob Evans, while Cabela’s has a day of activities planned to include free, in-store activities and in-store discounts.
