An inspection takes around 20 to 30 minutes and requires an adult home at the time of the inspection, Rau said.

If crews are unable to contact a homeowner a door tag will be left and the homeowner can call Columbia Gas to return and restore service, Rau said.
UPDATE @ 2 p.m.:
A natural gas leak has been contained after a contractor struck a gas line on Arthur Road in Mad River Twp., according to firefighters.
An AT&T subcontractor struck an elevated high pressure line while putting in utility poles around 12:20 p.m. Thursday, fire officials said.
The leak forced the evacuation of around 20 people in five nearby homes, according to officials. Firefighters will check their homes, and others, to make sure gas has been cleared from the structures before allowing residents to return inside.
Gas service has been shut off to 52 homes due to the leak, however and estimate on when it will be restored was unknown.
No injuries were reported.
FIRST REPORT
Some homes along Arthur Road in Mad River Twp. have been evacuated following a natural gas leak, according to firefighters.
Crews were dispatched around 12:20 p.m. to the 2600 block of Arthur Road, near Rebert Pike on reports of a contractor striking a natural gas line.
Emergency units have blocked the road while Columbia Gas crews work to contain the leak.
There have been no initial reports of injuries.
