A Xenia man has been charged with OVI after hitting an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser and injuring two, including a state trooper, in a weekend crash.

Isaiah Crane, 26, is scheduled to be arraigned in Miamisburg Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to a release.

The crash on southbound I-75 occurred when Crane crashed into the cruiser as crews were working to remove a disabled pick-up truck from the highway.

A trooper was treated for injuries at the scene and a tow truck driver was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

UPDATE @ 3:35 a.m. (Oct. 23)

An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper is in the hospital, possibly with a concussion, following a crash on southbound I-75, according to troopers at the scene.

The driver of the car that collided with the hospitalized trooper’s car was arrested for OVI, troopers said.

Troopers told our crew at the scene that a tow truck driver was also hit by the reportedly drunk driver and is at the hospital with a broken leg.

Staff Lieutenant Ray Martin said crews were originally dispatched to the area on a report of a disabled pick-up truck.

A wrecker was in the process of removing the truck when another southbound driver hit the police car and pushed it into the truck being towed, Martin said.

The disabled truck then hit the tow truck driver and the trooper, according to Martin.

Martin said the driver of the disabled truck was at the scene with his father at the time of the crash and both are uninjured.

A traffic reconstructionist is on scene conducting an investigation and Miami Twp. police are assisting troopers in directing traffic.
