Out of control semitrailer shuts down I-70 WB ramp to I-75 SB

A flatbed semitrailer crashed after the driver lost control while trying to pass vehicles on the I-70 West ramp to I-75 South.

The ramp was shut down around 9:30 a.m. and was expected to be shut down well into the morning.

The driver of the UZ Transport commercial vehicle was heading home at the time of the crash, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.

He was not injured.

Trooper Randy Lewis of the OSHP Commercial Enforcement Division said the driver was cited for failure to control.

A road crew must repair a guardrail that was mangled when the semitrailer careened into it and then struck a pillar supporting the highway bridge.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the driver was attempting to pass two vehicles on the right side at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control and went off the left side of the road. He then over-corrected and crashed into the guardrail then into the bridge column, according to the patrol.

The ramp was closed to traffic late morning and heading into the early afternoon.
