Driver of passing vehicle shoots at other car in Clayton; no injuries reported

Clayton police are working to find out what led to a shooting involving two vehicles traveling on Salem Avenue Thursday morning.

Around 12:20 a.m. an officer reported shots were being fired from vehicles traveling north on Salem Avenue from East Westbrook Road.

One vehicle stopped after the shooting in the area of Salem Avenue and North Union Road, while the other vehicle continued traveling on Salem Avenue.

Investigators said no one inside the stopped vehicle was hit by gunfire and no injuries have been reported.

Officers added they are not sure if the gunfire was from one vehicle, or both vehicles were exchanging shots.

Police are collecting a statement from the driver involved and the incident remains under investigation.

Officers did not release details of a possible suspect vehicle that fired the shots.
