Police seeking 3 men in strong arm robbery near Walmart in Butler Twp.

Police are looking for as many as three men who robbed a man of cash he said he was collecting to help a food bank.

Sgt. Todd Stanley, Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Harrison Twp. post, said the strong arm robbery occurred sometime after 8 p.m. near the parking lot of the Walmart Supercenter in Butler Twp.

Jake Martin, who identified himself as the victim, was not injured.

He tells us he was collecting money for a food bank when three men walked to him as he stood near the intersection of York Commons Boulevard and Town Center Drive, just off the store parking lot.

Martin said the men distracted him, knocked an undetermined amount of cash from his hands, grabbed it and took off running.

Police from Riverside (which brought a K-9 unit), Vandalia, Butler Twp. and Five Rivers MetroParks helped in the search early on.

The K-9 led officers to a wooded area off Benchwood Road and Town Center Drive, south of the Walmart.

Police have set up a perimeter in the area of Town Center Drive, Benchwood Road and Miller Lane.

Stanley said police will ask to review video from Walmart security cameras to see if they can spot the assailants.
