Semi driver cited in SB I-75 crash in Miami County that sends 2 to hospital

A semi driver was cited in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 that sent two people to the hospital and shut down southbound lanes for about two hours.

Crews were dispatched just after 11 p.m. to I-75, just south of the state Route 571 exit near the border with Montgomery County.

The truck struck a car while changing lanes, according to a trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The driver was cited for improper lane change, the trooper said.

Colyn Hall, a trucker from Xenia on his way to St. Louis, said he saw at least two people injured in the two-vehicle accident, which happened right in front of him.

“There was no time for the horn, you hit the brakes,” he said.

Two people riding in the car that was hit suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, the trooper said.

The highway reopened by 1 a.m.
