2 gunshot victims dropped off at Dayton hospital; police say shootings linked

UPDATE @ 5:45 p.m.

Dayton police were called to Good Samaritan Hospital around 2:15 p.m. today for a shooting victim, when a second gunshot victim was dropped off at the hospital.

The shootings possibly happened at or near College Hill Park, but Dayton police Sgt. Creigee Coleman said the victims were not really forthcoming. Dayton police also notified the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office about the shootings, which may have happened in their jurisdiction.

Both victims were brought to the hospital by friends or relatives and later were transferred to Miami Valley Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. The second man had to be taken by CareFlight medical helicopter to the second hospital, Coleman said.

“That victim told us that they were in a truck and somebody jumped in the back of that truck bed and began shooting,” Coleman said.

The first victim gave multiple versions, but also indicated it may have happened at College Hill Park. Witnesses told police they heard three gunshots, however, Coleman said police did not find a scene, no shell casings.

“We do know something happened at the College Hill Park. At this point in time we are going to turn everything over to the detectives and hopefully they can get some more information from these two victims,” Coleman said.
