South 49 in Clayton reopens following crash

UPDATE @ 11:25 a.m.

The intersection of Salem Avenue and Westbrook Road has reopened following a crash that occurred Friday morning. Clayton Police say the accident was caused by a car avoiding another vehicle that was attempting to make a U-turn. Both drivers involved in the accident are expected to recover from their injuries.

FIRST REPORT

At 8:30 a.m. Friday morning crews responded to Salem Avenue and Westbrook in Clayton regarding a two car crash with one car striking a DP&L pole. Both drivers were injured and transported to Miami Valley Hospital according to the Clayton Police Department. One driver’s injuries were reported to be serious while the other’s were determined to be non-life threatening.

A DP&L pole was heavily damaged in the accident and will have to be completely replaced. The intersection is still shut down and the traffic lights around it are out of order.  The Clayton Police Department is currently investigating the cause of this accident.
