Springboro residents awake to find mailboxes on the ground

Police in Springboro are investigating after many residents of the Settlers Walk community awoke to find their mailboxes damaged.

Approximately 100 mailboxes were damaged and the suspects have been identified, Springboro police posted on Facebook this morning.

It’s unclear whether police have made an arrest.

Stanton Drive resident Joel Lytle said he and his wife discovered their mailbox lying on the ground this morning as officers were interviewing one of their neighbors.

Lytle said he saw about a half-dozen mailboxes on his street that were similarly damaged.

They were ... actually very neatly placed on the ground next to the posts,” Lytle said. “There was no denting. It looks like somebody just tore them off and placed them on the ground.”

Police are asking residents to call the department at (937) 748-0611 and file a report if their mailbox was damaged.
