Springfield teen accused of killing brother to be tried as adult

A 16-year-old Springfield boy will be tried as an adult in connection with his brother’s death, according to Clark County Prosecutor Andy Wilson.

Nicholas Starling is accused of stabbing and beating his 14-year-old brother, Harley Starling, to death in October.

Starling's case had been moved to adult court last year, but then went back to juvenile court after an Ohio Supreme Court ruling that affected teen suspects statewide.

But then another Ohio Supreme Court decision that came down in May reversed that ruling.

Harley Starling was found dead by his grandmother the of morning Oct. 31 in their home in the 2200 block of Superior Avenue, according to a Springfield Police Division report.

After hours of investigating at the scene, police arrested Harley’s brother, Nicholas Starling, on delinquency charges of murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the death.
