Student charged for bringing fake gun to Middletown charter school

Based on the bus number and students who ride that bus, charter school Summit Academy on Marshall Road and Middletown Middle School on Girard Avenue were placed on lock down, Birk said.

Officers located the suspect at Summit Academy with an Airsoft gun in his back pack, Birk said. The 13-year-old boy is charged with misdemeanor inducing panic and conveyance of a weapon into a school safety zone.

The lock down at Middletown Middle School lasted a brief time because officers determined quickly it was not a district student, said Destini Burns, district spokeswoman.
