The crash involving the Dayton police cruiser was reported around 11:40 a.m. Friday near the intersection of West Third Street and North Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton, according to dispatch records.

The vehicle, described as a white SUV, took off from the scene after hitting the cruiser. Dayton police, citing a preliminary charge of assault on a peace officer, pursued the vehicle until they lost slight of it in Trotwood, according to scanner traffic.

The vehicle was reportedly found unoccupied in the area of Hillpoint Street in Trotwood, where a K9 officer was requested to attempt to track the suspect.
