The sentencing was part of a plea agreement and closes the criminal case against Bannan, who pleaded guilty in July 2017 to the charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated vehicular assault and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The crash happened on the afternoon of June 2, 2016.

Investigators with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Bannan was driving a 2008 Chevy Impala southbound on Ohio 4 when his vehicle struck a northbound 1998 Subaru Legacy that was turning onto Bath Road.

The front-seat passenger in the Subaru, 32-year-old Jeffrey Lee White, of Dayton, was killed in the crash. The Subaru’s driver was taken to the hospital as well as two other passengers, one being a 10-month-old child, according to the patrol.

The patrol reports that Bannan was traveling at a high rate of speed and blood tests indicated that drugs were in his system at the time of the crash.

A civil suit for personal injuries, filed about a month after the criminal case, has not been settled.
