This week’s weather fare: ‘Pop-up’ storms

Rain moving across southern Indiana earlier tonight could bring a few rumbles of thunder as well as rain to communities south of Dayton overnight, according to Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson.

Tuesday’s forecast shows temperatures rising to the lower 80s for areas that stay dry and a little cooler for areas that see rain.

“Showers and thunderstorms may develop around noon and continue through the afternoon before tapering off around sunset,” Simpson said. “Along with some pockets of heavy rain, a few storms may produce gusty winds and small hail.”

A cold front will move in overnight Tuesday, dropping humidity for the rest of the work week. Simpson said the region may see some sun and isolated thunderstorms of the “pop-up” variety this weekend.

Also for the weekend, humidity will return with highs expected in the mid 80s on Saturday and Sunday.
