Surveyors at former Der Dutchman

A survey crew was observed recently at the former Der Dutchman property at 230 US 42 in Waynesville. Last fall, village officials toured the property with officials from Premier Health Partners. Property records indicate the property on the Little Miami River is still owned by the Dutch Corp. Local officials are hopeful a new business will be opening on the almost 42-acre property, which was vacated following a fire in the restaurant in 2010. LAWRENCE BUDD

Former Mio’s under new ownership

The marquee outside the former Mio’s restaurant on Broadway in Lebanon says to “Stay Tuned…” The long-time pizza parlor has closed, but new owners are expected to open a family restaurant later this year in the building, across from Berry Middle School in Lebanon. The new owners, doing business as the Brew Vault, have applied for a liquor license from the Ohio Department of Liquor Control and are expected to remodel the building. LAWRENCE BUDD

Appraisals approved for Columbia-Fields-Ertel roundabout

The Warren County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday, March 10, to authorize appraisals of land needed for a $1.4 million roundabout project at Fields-Ertel, Columbia and Lebanon roads. The project will be a collaboration between Warren and Hamilton counties also funded by the Ohio Public Works Commission.

The proposed roundabout will be safer and cheaper than a lighted intersection, with projected costs of more than $2 million, according to Kurt Weber, chief deputy engineer in Warren County Engineer’s Office.

Also Tuesday, the commissioners approved a policy authorizing county engineers to negotiate and agree to compensate the owners of small pieces of right of way and easements on this and other projects if the sellers agree to waive appraisals. The construction is to begin next summer. For more information, call 513-695-3302. LAWRENCE BUDD
