Winter performance competition at new high school

CLAYTON — The Mid-East Performance Association (MEPA) is presenting their first color guard and winter guard competition at the newly built Northmont High School, 4916 National Rd., on Sunday, Feb. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

MEPA is an organization which promotes positive growth in young performers.

The Northmont color guard and winter guard will be competing against schools such as Troy, Xenia, Miamisburg, and Springboro, among others.

Percussion and winds competition will begin at 8:30 with awards in the area beginning at 10 a.m.

Following band awards will be performances from the winter guard, starting at 10:30 a.m. with awards starting at 4 p.m.

Northmont will be competing in elementary, junior, and scholastic level winter guard and color guard. The school will not compete in either percussion or winds competition.

Winter guard mom Jill Anthony, is excited for this competition.

“It is a huge deal, being the first show in the new school.”

Tickets for the events will $8 for ages 7-18 and $9 for 19 and older. Children 6 and under will be free.
