Man’s beloved Vette damaged by oak tree

Celebrating Christmas was the only thing on one Springfield man's mind this morning, until he heard a loud cracking followed by a crash and looked out the window.

Tom Tuttle's beloved 2005 Chevrolet Corvette was parked near an oak tree which decided to shed a large branch. The bough crumbled the roof of the red 6-speed, which was bought new and has only 20,000 miles.

Weather conditions were calm at the time with no high winds.

"The tree was probably just ready to go," said Tuttle, who has owned several Vettes over the years.

This Corvette was Tom Tuttle's favorite. Despite that attachment, he remained in good spirits and found a way to laugh about it.

"I darn near cried," he said. "It's too late to put on my Christmas list."

No one was hurt in the incident. The Tuttles plan to wait until after the holiday weekend to talk to their insurance providers.
