Motorists in Miamisburg can expect the Twelfth Street bridge to close this summer while crews rehabilitate the aging structure.
School buses and similarly sized vehicles have been unable to use for the bridge over Sycamore Creek in recent years, officials said. That issue is magnified because the Miamisburg City School District’s transportation facility is next door.
It will be off limits to all vehicles after work projected to begin in August starts, Miamisburg City Engineer Bob Stanley said.
The work will include the removal and replacement of five bridge deck beams along the drainage channel and creek bank restoration, city records show. Bids for work are expected to awarded in July, and work is expected to be completed by the end of the year, Stanley said.
The city’s cost for the project will be $160,000, and it will receive nearly matching funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission, records show.
