Miamisburg loaded with weekend outdoor events this month

Downtown Miamisburg will host several outdoor weekend events this month, beginning with tonight’s Cinco de Mile run.

The one-mile run from Mound Park to the Lucky Star Brewery is set for 7 p.m. and costs $25 to enter. For more details or to register visit www.KeySports.net.

Other downtown Miamisburg events this month include:

Derby in the Burg: 2 p.m. Saturday, Main Street. Held on the same day as the Kentucky Derby, it will feature bed races, bonnet contests, horse stick races and more.

Spring Fling: May 19-21, 5-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m-10 p.m., Saturday and 2-6 p.m. Sunday. Thousands are expected for the three-day, free event at Library Park, 35 S. Fifth St. It will include live music, carnival, parade, car show, 5K run, food and a silent auction.

Rocky's Run for Freedom: 9 a.m. May 27. The 5th annual 5K Walk/Run is held in memory of Cpl. Paul "Rocky" Zanowick, a soldier from Miamisburg who was killed in Afghanistan on June 3, 2011. Registration, check-in and finish line are at Library Park. The race starts at Harmon Field. Cost is $20 for those aged 17 and younger, $25 for those aged 18 and older. Race proceeds will benefit: a Bishop Leibold School Scholarship, a Purple Heart Recipient to attend the 2017 Warrior Weekend to Remember and the Uriah Edward Zanowick Trust Fund.
